In 2019, Visal was the poor student study in grade 12 from one high school in Rumdoul district. He lives a bit far from school, about 30 minutes on bike on the way to school. He was the good student from poor family level II in the Rumdoul community. His father works far away from home to earn money (cement constructor) in Phnom Penh. He lives in a very small house with another two siblings and mother. His parents are nearly 50 years old. They have small land for rice field in rainy season.
The project of Mekong Plus and after CAO supported him a scholarship 35$/year for 3 years when he was at high school (scholarship is an amount of money that is given by project to a poor student to help pay for their education). And the project staffs also met to talk and provide a consulting for a benefit of education and motivated him and other poor to study hard.
After finished high school end of 2019, Visal received a scholarship from Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen Svay Rieng for the skill of electrical.
Today, after graduated Visal is working at Svay Rieng Cambodian Red Cross and he also studying one additional skill is management at Svay Rieng University. Visal supported a part of his salary to his brother and sister’s education at high school and his parents.
He would like to send a message “Thank a lot to project of Mekong Plus and CAO for decided to support me a scholarship and good advice. If I drop out that day because of poor maybe my both brother and sister will drop out too. Your scholarship changed our future”. We wished you can stay long and support another students from poor family in Rumdoul.
