ENVIRONMENT

Phanny, CAO’s agronomist, actively promotes vegetable gardens protected by nets. This simple and affordable method helps reduce pests and diseases, reducing the need for chemical pesticides.

By encouraging families to grow safer and healthier vegetables, CAO helps improve household nutrition while promoting more environmentally friendly farming practices.

A. Plastic Control at Schools

Schools are important places for children to learn not only academic subjects but also good habits and responsible behavior. CAO promotes plastic reduction in schools by encouraging teachers and students to reduce plastic use, keep their surroundings clean, and properly manage waste.

Through daily practice, children learn about the negative impact of plastic on the environment and develop habits that they can carry into their homes and communities. This helps create cleaner schools, protect natural resources, and build a healthier environment for future generations.

B. Tree Planting

CAO encourages communities to plant and protect more trees to create a greener and healthier environment. CAO provides tree seedlings to pagodas and schools, while local communities take responsibility for protecting and watering the trees.

After a few months, CAO checks their growth and, when the trees are well cared for, provides additional seedlings. Through this approach, CAO encourages shared responsibility and helps communities create greener schools, pagodas, and public spaces.

C. Sustainable Agriculture

CAO actively promotes good agricultural practices to reduce the excessive and inappropriate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Farmers are encouraged to use compost, natural fertilizers, and other environmentally friendly methods to improve soil health and protect crops.

Through these practices, CAO helps farmers produce safer food, reduce production costs, protect the environment, and build more sustainable livelihoods.

D. Biogas

CAO promotes biogas systems that turn cow and pig manure into methane gas for cooking. The gas is piped directly to the kitchen, providing a cleaner alternative to firewood.

Biogas brings several benefits to rural families and the environment. It reduces the amount of methane released into the atmosphere, helps protect local trees by reducing the need for firewood, and keeps animal stalls cleaner and less smelly. The remaining slurry can also be used as a natural fertilizer for crops.
