Mr. Sopheap is the vegetable farm owner and family living in Toul Chres village, Kampong Ampil commune, Romdoul district, Svay Rieng province of Cambodia. He is 58 years old. He has 4 children, 3 are marriage and left him to build new family. His wife is 56 years old and his son is 21 years old, studying at university at Phnom Penh. In 2016, the income is 18USD/person/month. Those time they request us to support them with the technique to plant the vegetable because they can plant it but the soil nutrient is not good, so the technical staff consulted them to improve the quality of the soil first before cultivation.
We use the bio-char mix with natural compost that can found around their such as green leaves of tree, kitchen waste, animals waste and rice straw to apply on the farm and plow. They plow every 2 week and after 3 months we try to plant 1 row, they so surprise because every change to grow up very well and then they expand bigger and bigger than before. They move from planting only home consumption to earn the income around 15$/day in dry season and between 8$ to 13$/day. Now they no need to go out for a work because they have vegetable farm, 70 chickens (earn around 60$/month), and 7 cows. This income can support their son to continue the university. It is the result of our project.
