In the past, 2016

Chhoeung Van is 43 years old is a successful farmer after benefit from microcredit running by CAO in Cambodia; her husband is Mr. Yin Sophea. They have 2 children, living in Rumdoul district, Svay Rieng. Before, 2016 family income is just about 13$/month/person. Husband is the main person in the family who earn money by selling labor for home construction, little income from rice field and animal husbandry. But some year their animal almost dies because of no vaccination and no treatment. 13$/month/person is not enough for them to spend on food, treatment, or sending their children to school.

2016 is the year CAO started to provide her a first cycle of micro loan for pig raising with the amount of 50$. Staying home to take care children Madame VAN can learn new technique from CAO specialist about pig raising like vaccination, disease controlling and treatment. After few cycles of microloan without interest from CAO she become successes in pig raising and expand her pig store and more heads. She can learn from the experience and can share her skill and techniques to the neighbor around.

In 2020, she continues to request microloan from CAO to start another new business, she opens a small shop in front of her home. She sale vegetable, meat, grocery, some drinks… Her business is going smooth even the profit is not high, but she is happy. Each day she earns about 5$/day and someday more less. She also renovated her store from the small one to medium.

In May 2023, CAO team conducted a new survey to seek for her new income and finally we are so proud and happy with them. Her income increases up to 60$/month/person. This more than double is we compared from the beginning of the period we started the project.
Today, after 10 cycle of micro loan, Mrs. VAN is not request micro loan from CAO anymore because she can do it and continue anything by her own. Her both children don’t need to drop out and studying secondary and high school. She will build a new house in 2024 because the old house is small and old.

Lastly, Madame VAN is happy with micro loan and everything we supported her in the past, she wishes the program of Micro can expand and help another poor farmer same as her past situation.
